SHIMRI.

In the time that she'd been a member here, and even Queen, this had probably been the one place she'd visited the most. Mirror Lake, apparently the Queen's favorite haunt. Whether she'd admit to it openly or not, or whether it really was or not, that was all uncertain. If asked, Shimri would likely look along the waters, sigh softly, get a strange glint in her eye, and murmur: "the reflections at a certain time of the day, when the moonlight filters in and everything glows.. it's all otherworldly, so serene. I can't explain it."
She seemed to know the exact time to come into the waters, as well. The window of opportunity only lasted so long, but it was long enough that she could wade into the lake -- swim, even -- and enjoy her otherworldly peace. It seemed like a place where she could be to herself, let her mind wander. Be at peace. Sure, she had Socrates, but sometimes a mare needed alone time. Tonight wasn't necessarily one of those nights, but Shimri was feeling.. strange. As the white mare waded into the waters, going to where it was around girth-deep, she brushed her muzzle along the surface and sighed lightly. Not much longer. Soon, they will be lit. She paused a moment, before lifting her head and looking back to the shore. Sure, Shimri loved her alone time as much as the next horse, but being alone made her wonder if her King knew about the magic that happened around this time of night. He was the King of Covell, after all -- surely he knew?
With a soft huff, the white mare turned back to her lake and cocked a hip. She would wade farther into the waters when they lit up for her. She loved it so much, it was something unexplainable. The blue lights danced along her fur, reflected from her own eyes, lit up the walls and roof of the cave -- made everything seem like a dream. That was only half of what she loved. The other part, that was something internal that one could not explain in words. It had to be understood. Bringing her chin to the surface of the waters and closing her eyes, the painted mare wondered if anyone would share the unspeakable understanding.
Socrates would, Wouldn't he? Bringing her tail across her haunches in a heavy sweep, water splashing up with the motion and wetting her coat, the Queen pondered. Surely he would. He understood her like no other horse did, and like no other horse probably ever would. While on the subject of her partner, Shimri began to wonder where he'd be around this time of the night. Likely patrolling, or enjoying the moonlight. She smiled softly, opening her blue eyes and looking out into the darkness. The moon wouldn't be in position for a few minutes still, at least. Apparently it was taking its sweet time tonight.
Of course, a thought in the back of her mind wondered if the moon would come at all tonight, and that made her worry some. But she pushed it back. Of course it would come, of course her waters would be lit. The moon seemed to be fond of her, at least when considering it showed her the wonder of Mirror Lake. Selfishly, she thought that it was meant that this happen around her, and her alone. She felt it was something special. Again, she felt like tonight was something.. special. Strange. Different. However, Shimri still couldn't figure out what could be much different from any other night she came out here to enjoy her serenity. Only thing that changed so far was that the moon was late. Or, perhaps, she'd come early?
The mare ran her chin along the waters more, bringing it into her chest, closing her eyes again as she patiently awaited the change. Far above her, the faint glow of the worms of Covell littered the walls. They always sparkled when the waters lit up. It was like.. they were the stars, and she was wading in a liquid starlight. A smirk rose from her lips, her ears twitching as she scoffed at herself softly. You really must be losing it, Shimri. Sometimes, I have to wonder, More time passed. As she was beginning to wonder, she felt the change.
Opening her eyes, just in time, she felt her heart leap as the moon crossed into position and spilled into the shafts above. The starlight washed into the waters, washed over her. In only moments' time, Shimri was bathing in starlight, eyes wider and full of splendor. Her smile rose, her head going with it. She looked around, inhaling deeply as she did, watching as her lake became otherworldly.
It was simply magical.
ooc; This should be fun. Enjoy ♥
