Hot as Hell. That was pretty much the only thing on the stallion's mind as he trudged onward. He was drenched in sweat, and the under layers of his thick mane and forelock were sticking to his neck and face. Sides heaved rather shallowly, and through the last mile, he hadn't taken notice to the blood trickling from his nostrils. He simply wasn't built for the kind of hell he'd put himself under. And for what? Because he’d traveled far over the last few months and still hadn’t found what he’d been looking for. It was driving him simply insane. He’d only ever met her once, so the reason he continued to walk to the end of the world for her was ludicrous, but heaven help him he could not stop for the life of him. It had even crossed his mind that he might actually die before he ever found her, but it apparently wasn’t going to stop him from trying. ”I like mountains.” These were the words spoken to the massive brute in soft tones just before she’d left him in her dust, staring off after her in such a way that had left him frozen in shock -- just a moment before he’d shouted and struck out, breaking a tree in half with one kick. It had royally ticked him off, to put it nicely, when she’d up and left like that. Zeph had spent many a night and day getting over that fact. But by now, the anger had faded into an edgy calmness. He’d been ready to snap at any moment for the longest time, and it was only a matter of time before it happened if he couldn’t find her. Her. She was the only thing truly on his mind.. Or rather, one should say that she was more the only thing on his heart, for his mind had become drugged by the heat that pressed down on him. He prided himself on being strong enough to cross that hated desert, an amazing feat for one as large and.. well.. fluffy as he.
Mountains. The colossal, painted stallion had naturally assumed to travel through Kuylin. If only it could’ve been that easy. The Valley, where he’d made his home in the Western Forest for not all that long, lay only just to the south of the great expanse of mountains. It was there he’d thought to find her. And after scouring every bit of it, or so he’d thought, more many, many weeks, Zeph had finally left, traveling across the plains from there. It’d been winter when he’d braved the mountains, spring when he’d searched part of the tundra, and the beginnings of summer when he’d gone to the plains. It wasn’t until he’d crossed the Shahir desert just this summer that he’d thought he might die. There were many days when the great beast thought he’d collapse on the sand and be gone from this world, but he still kept to his feet, still lumbered on. Lead by hope and determination. Did she successfully carry his child? The curiosity of what he or she looked like now was enough to speed his heart up every time it crossed his mind. He was heading to the last place he’d ever truly wanted to visit, and the last place he could think of in the vicinity of these lands that resembled mountains. If she hadn’t been in any place he’d searched already, then she surely had to be in the Mael. Hated place, ruled by a most despicable being. The Mael’s King was one that Zeph hoped never to cross for fear that he’d lose his mind and crush him under his own massive hooves. It wasn’t as though the beast deserved any less. But as he’d finally crossed over the borders into the territory and found his way into the area known as Misenituk, he really couldn’t believe his own blue eyes when he thought he saw a small pool of water. Driven by a survivor’s thirst, he rushed toward it, fighting dizziness along the way, thinking only that if it was only a mirage as the others had been along his trek, he would surely kill the next thing he truly saw. However, this final time, as the stallion neared he saw that it did not fade away into sand as the others had. This time, the water became clearer, and from there, grass became noticeable as well. Finally! Picking up his pace, he didn’t bother to stop at its edge, but dove right in. At the pool’s middle, he plopped right in as though dead. The water wasn’t deep enough, unfortunately, to encompass his mass in whole, but it was enough so that he could happily roll and thrash in its blessed coolness. Sitting up, he quenched his thirst in long gulps, ever-grateful for its refreshment.
Sated at last, and cooled down enough for his liking, Zephiathon exited the pool and paused only for a few moments to grab a quick bite to eat in the shade of a tree he was grateful to find. But as soon as he’d started to eat, it crossed his mind that he didn’t know when he’d be able to stop again for food, or where food might be exactly, so he changed his mind and stayed there, thinking he’d pick his search back up once his belly was full once more. Water dripped off him and tickled in places, but he didn’t wish it away, simply let it trickle down. The heat would surely evaporate it away too soon as it was.

Miesque && Sari“Little one, you need to stop tha- No! Don’t get near that thing, it could eat you!” called a doting mother’s worried voice, her foal getting into things that she probably shouldn’t have been getting into. There was a snake curled up on a small rock, warming itself in the sun and looking rather annoyed at the presence of the pair of horses. Well, as much as a little, sluggish snake could look annoyed, that is. “But mama, what is it?!” came the young one’s voice, expressive eyes she’d inherited from her mother wide in fascination. It wasn’t that the youngling enjoyed getting herself into situations, it’s that her insatiable curiosity that many foals possessed drove her on. She’d never seen a living creature without legs before, and couldn’t fathom how it managed to get around. Surely it didn’t live out its entire life on a rock? “It’s called a snake” the mare informed her daughter, eyeing the serpent that captivated the young horse suspiciously. “It’s so shiny” said the small one, swishing her little tail around as she looked over her shoulder, peering happily at her mom. The mare simply snorted in response before her ears caught sound of something off in the distance. It sounded like… splashing? Her head whipped around, ears perked atop a dished head and eyes searching. The cause of the ruckus was not within line of sight, though. Now it seemed to be her curiosity that was piqued. “Come on, Sari dear, we mustn’t linger here any longer” she said, nudging the foal to get moving before trotting off up ahead. With one last glance at the snake, the youngster was bouncing along after her dam, seeming to have somehow possessed the same grace as her mother despite her bulkier build.
If someone had told Miesque that she’d one day come across the sire of her first and only born, she’d of laughed. It had been many months since her one time meeting with the brute. During their brief encounter, she might as well have raped the poor stallion. She had never given him a choice other than to accept her bold advances, and she’d shamelessly thrown herself at him until he’d finally given in. And then, after it all, she had ran off with few words and little for him to go on. To be honest, she didn’t even remember most of their conversation other than the fact he’d repeatedly called her ‘cariad’. The mare still wasn’t sure what in the hell that word meant, but it was the main thing she had remembered out of all the things he must of said, and to this day it tortured her that she’d never figured out its meaning, and probably never would. There was no question the lightly built mare had felt something for the much larger brute, and had missed him. But recently she had given up hope on ever seeing him again. Instead, she had accepted the fact she had ended up in a desolate place, under the rulership of a certain, crazy king. So it came as quite a shock to her when she rounded a large boulder, only to behold a sight she thought she would never have the privilege of seeing again. It was the father of her child.
There he was, munching on some grasses under the shade of a tree. The very sight of him caused her to freeze, eyes growing bigger than they already, naturally were. The surprise only took hold of her for a moment, though. Soon enough, she was whinnying at her long lost… whatever the hell he was to her. Lover? She didn’t know, but she was none the less happy to see him. With her neck arched and her tail held high, she pranced towards him, an extra bounce in her step. He was soaking wet it appeared, but that didn’t stop her from swinging herself around once she reached him, so that she was facing the same way as he before pressing herself as close to his massive body as she possibly could. She seemed to have momentarily forgotten about her foal.
Sari had lost sight of her mother for a minute or two, though was following her tracks easily, head lowered and tail flicking almost non stop. Her tail almost always seemed to be in motion, a habit she’d seemed to have possessed since birth. It didn’t matter if she was happy or upset, for it nearly always appeared to be moving. Though extreme happiness or severe stress would often get it going a bit more than usual. Right now, contempt with herself, she only flicked it back and forth every ten seconds or so. She was at complete ease… until she slowly rounded the boulder her mother had disappeared behind before her. She was only half way around it when she got a glimpse of a huge, black and white beast next to her mom. The frightening sight caused her to scurry back behind the huge rock to hide. What WAS that thing?! Why was it here? And, most importantly, why was mommy with it?! The only male Sari had ever known was the king of these lands, and even that had been rather minimal. She’d only been around him every now and then in her four and a half months of life, and only because her mom was one of the mares here. This new one’s scent filled her nose. It was unfamiliar and foreign to her. She’d never smelled him before. She’d never seen him before. The little foal could handle snakes, but definitely not strange stallions. No sir! She planned on hiding here behind this rock for the remainder of her life, in hopes it wouldn’t find her.
