It had been quite some time since he had last seen his previous Queen, Suli. She had been in foal to some bastard's seed. He had been rather furious, however he had spoke of welcome and warmth, but she had decided to turn and leave. The overo brute didn't quite know how to react to that, he had grown depressed and lost. Leaving his lands had been so far out of the question for him at the time, he for the most part stayed in one spot for an entire day. He couldn't live like that anymore, he knew he had to get out, make something of himself instead of just wasting away. He didn't fight for his lands back for no particular reason. It was time to gather up some females, make something of his home. Do what he was meant to do, which was pass on his bloodlines. It was still very disappointing and sorrowful that the mare he had always planned on passing on his lines, would not be doing so. Then again... things do change. He had no choice, nor could he change her decisions. He had to make due with what he had.
So, here Falcon was. He had made the journey from his home to the open lands, to seek out unclaimed mares. The tall grass blades brushed against his legs as he made a path, ears perked, nostrils flared, eyes wide open. The brute bellowed out a echoing call to any mares near.
It was time to get started.

It was time to break the mold, get out of this awful stagnant fear of the opposite sex. Yes! She was going to do it! A shaggy foreleg shot forward as if anticipating an outright gallop, but no movement followed. Dahlia stood a little dumbfounded, frustrated with her inability to act on her sudden confidence. The leg remained raised, the peculiar coated mare stared at it blankly, a sliver of hate sneaking into her gaze. Put it back down you dumby… With considerable mental force the leg begrudgingly returned to solid ground, it’s contact with earth ushering a sigh from the distraught mare’s lungs. Whatever was she going to do with herself? She couldn’t live alone forever, it just wouldn’t work. She supposed she could become a lesbian and then her fear of stallions wouldn’t matter… But that felt like the easy way out, she would just be cheating her “lover’s” emotions by making her life a lie. Her proud head hung rather low as she pondered over her options in life. Love was on the forefront of her mind and yet it felt so unattainable. Dahlia silently cursed her mother for making her the way she was. Scared that every stallion out there was a cold hearted rapist, even despite witnessing a few charming individuals her mother’s worries plagued her. A call, strong and demanding broke her from her stewing mentality. A shiver broke out across her hide, rippling across the black of her shoulders down to the golden marbling of her rump. Her tail, alabaster white, flicked nervously against her laced flanks. ”Who the hell does he think he is? King?” She muttered, a bitter laugh escaping her at the thought. ”Better go see what his highness wants.” As she spoke the latter it was supposed to come across as a joke, and yet rather unwittingly she found that her limbs were now in motion, carrying her rather confidently in the direction of the bellowing bloke. As the realization of locomotion occurred to her she staggered, fretting over how weak willed she seemed for coming obediently to something as simple as a stranger’s call. Her limbs won the battle, convincing her of this somehow being the chance she needed to prove her mother wrong. Yes, yes that’s what this is… Proving mother wrong, not simply submitting myself to a stallion’s will… She snorted in an attempt to clear her mess of a mind, it worked, if only slightly. Best to put on my game face. She swallowed hard, tucking away the fretting filly, and allowing herself to portray in full the confident young mare she was capable of being from time to time. It was with the mask on that she came upon him, his grullo coat, even in full winter shag, was striking, and though she wouldn’t readily admit it Dahlia found herself admiring the proud stallion. In doing so she took note of his unease, it was subtle, as if he too had put on his game face for the occasion. She wondered what would cause him to act in such a manner. Perhaps he mistrusted mares as much as she mistrusted stallions? It would be a happy coincidence if it was indeed the matter. She stopped short; a good twenty feet from him should he prove to be the bastard of her nightmares, and there she stood, quietly observing, assessing whether or not to speak before she was spoken to. He had an air of importance about him, something earthy and wholesome despite the anger and hate. Her head cocked slightly in a sarcastic manner. “Can I help you?” She caught herself off guard with the comment, but refrained from correcting herself. It would do no good appearing bipolar in a situation like this, she just hoped he didn’t take offense to her less than proper greeting. OOC:

He felt so alone. Sad eyes glanced at his side, she was not there. She hadn't been there for quite some time. Eyes closed for a brief moment before he lifted his head again, opening them once more to look ahead. "Oh Suli..." He sighed, what was he to do? Ears rested against his skull, he could still remember the very first day he met her. She had been so frustrating and naive, but he loved her all the more for it. He had fought for Kuylin for them, to raise a family. They had gotten separated however, but he came back. And fought for his lands again, only he couldn't find her anywhere. He had plans to grow old with her, he didn't want anyone else. Even now, after everything, he still did not want anyone else. But he needed to do something with his kingdom... he couldn't just let them sit empty, purposeless. So he really had no other choice but to do exactly what he was out doing. Maybe it'd get Suli off his mind, but he highly doubted that one.
The sudden voice startled him, although he refrained from showing any sort of reaction. Lifting his head to look in her direction, ears perked. It was interesting to be on the other end of that question, as it usually was him asking it. Falcon took a step back, getting a good look over of the mare that stood before him. "Why, yes." He started, trying to think of what exactly to even say. He honestly could say he hadn't really thought that far, he was just making things up as he went. "I seek mares." Was the only way he could really think to put it, it was quite blunt. "To bring back to my kingdom." He added, still not quite sure of how to really go about it.

As blunt as he was he hadn’t come across as overly unpleasant. In fact that put Dahlia more at ease, but not to the point where she was so naïve as to be totally at ease in the stallion’s presence. Though her current situation wasn’t unpleasant she was finding his awkwardness contagious. Her mouth half opened, though no words passed her lips, she shut her mouth abruptly and stood tight lipped, a little taken aback by her inability to reply to what she assumed was in fact a king before her. The knowledge, amusing as it was, made her feel rather foolish for her earlier outburst, had he been within ear shot at the time – well she dared not think of what his reaction would’ve been. Her gaze dropped to her hooves in the frosty grass. She didn’t know what she was doing here, before a king of all things. She was a simple girl – well ok maybe not, rather complex, but with simple tastes – she just wanted to love and be loved, and that could never happen between herself and so elite an individual. Not to mention he didn’t seem to be the type looking for love she could guess a thousand reasons why, but in the end the cause wouldn’t matter, the effect would still hold true.
Shockingly she found herself hating him a little bit. No he wasn’t a rapist, or at least so it seemed, but he wasn’t her prince charming either. Though his presence had managed to slightly put her worries at ease she knew that as soon as they parted ways her worries would just come rushing back to haunt her. She shook her head slightly, making as if to rearrange her disheveled mane before looking back to the painted king before her, a knowing glint flickering in her eyes as she spoke to him. ”That seems like a half-hearted mission to me king. You obviously hold no enthusiasm for the task…” Her voice trailed off for a moment, before continuing in a good-humored manner. ”You seek mares, and alas you’ve found Dahlia, who knows what else you’ll find on a day like today.” Alas indeed… Poor boy it’s a shame I’m not a compliant maiden or you’d have hit the jackpot.
Ah yes, she was a glorious creature, peculiar coloration or not she was definitely hot stuff. All black for the most part, with a hint of a star over her right eye and a snip behind her left nostril. That was the end of normality, the rest of her markings were golden, jagged flecks on her shoulders and chest – a few straying to her underbelly, but in her winter shag you wouldn’t know otherwise – and the most peculiar sabino style frayed lacing from her flank to the base of her tail like some bizarre golden blanket. Then of course the alabaster white tail, she was, as she had come to understand it, a black-palomino chimera, whatever that was… Different. Yes, that about summed up Dahlia, different.

Being here just felt entirely wrong, he had a gut feeling that tugged at him. Suli was still on his mind, she had been since she left him. Even though he knew he needed to just get on with his life, which is exactly what he was doing, but it was still a difficult task. He just planned to take one step at a time, baby steps as he mother used to call them. He had been actually confident about the whole thing until an actual mare stepped up to his call. Now all he wanted to do was retreat, but he made sure to hide that well. There was no why he could allow that to leak out, he was a king. No king lacked confidence and if one did, they weren't king for very long. So it wasn't an option, he had to hide it. Even from himself. So there the overo brute stood, scarred hide and all.
Ears rested backward at her words, his eyes didn't leave from her, his tail flicked up against his hide. No, it was not very enthusiastic for him. He eyed her up, contemplating the possibilities of offspring. Not that it was the only thing he was thinking about, building up his herd was also important to him. Offspring was just a possibility, if the female agreed, of course. "It's a long story." He admitted, keeping his head held somewhat high. He wasn't going to give up his pride, not completely. The brute listened to the rest of what she was saying, a soft smile grew. Dahlia. What a pretty name. He thought, Just so, to much a pretty mare. She really was. Incredibly interesting, she intrigued him quite a bit. "Lovely to meet you, Dahlia. I go by Falcon, king of Kuylin." He introduced with a slight bow of his head.

”It usually is…” She mused, her dark eyes watched him quietly, acknowledging the fact that his own hadn’t left her for a moment. The observation freaked her out a bit, was it just courteous of him to watch her so intently or was there twisted cogs turning behind those mysterious eyes? She fought back the urge to flee, and only slightly shifted her hooves about, it was after all a tad chilly and standing around in one spot for so long had chilled her slightly. Her ears perked only the slightest when he formally introduced himself as Falcon, king of Kuylin, her interest lay more with the beginning of his introduction and the smile that had blossomed on his lips. Lovely to meet you… His words felt like a bad joke, surely it couldn’t be possible that he was as kind as all that? And the smile? It was soft, not malicious or devilish in the least. Stallions were evil, crude beasts that tossed their weight around as if it was nothing. They didn’t deal with such pleasantries as “lovely to meet you”. Did they?
Dahlia stood rather dumbfounded, not specifically by his words, but by the notion that he was in fact a decent individual. Had her mother lied to her? Had she spent a good year of her life skittering away from the opposite sex for absolutely no reason? She herself was a rape baby, the result of her mother’s worrying. Dahlia looked long and hard at the stallion, searching his eyes for the slightest hint of ill intentions. There was perhaps a flicker of attraction, but nothing so alarming as her mother had described to her. Dahlia’s eyes narrowed in confusion, her brow furrowing. ”This is probably the most absurd of questions… but you’re actually nice aren’t you?” Her voice was slightly incredulous, a hint of excitement raising the octave of her tone. Her legs carried her forward a few steps, neck outstretching to bring her nose closer to him. She was, for a lack of better terms, in shock. Sensitive skin met the coat of a well muscled shoulder and she recoiled. Limbs skittered her frame back the few steps she had advanced whilst ears shot back and eyes widened. A small cry of shock fluttered her nostrils during the commotion.
She had nearly expected him to lash out at her as soon as she’d made contact, but nothing, at least nothing threatening. Her expression almost instantaneously changed once she realized, this time in full, that Falcon wasn’t the sort of stallion her mother had told her about. A grin, of both relief and joy graced her features as her body relaxed. ”I’m so sorry for being such a spook… Just my dam was rather adamant that all stallions are well… evil or something.” She laughed nervously, allowing the grin to ease into a soft smile not unlike the one he had expressed earlier. Her prince charming or not Dahlia found herself admiring the battle scarred Falcon, even fretting over whether or not she had ruined his impression of her by spooking.

Wasn't that the truth. Things were usually a long story, however in fact his wasn't such a long one, yet it was one he didn't wish to talk about. There was nothing more that he wanted, than to be with Suli again. She was his soul mate, she was just his. To put it plain and simply. He had no idea where she had gone. He wasn't sure if she wanted him to follow, as they hadn't left off on the best terms. Quite honestly, he wasn't even sure if she still cared for him, she could be anywhere. With anyone. She could raise her foal to call someone else daddy, even though Falcon wasn't the biological father. It wasn't a pleasant thought for him, it really wasn't, but he dealt with it. There wasn't anything else he could do about it. She wanted to move on, somewhere else, well that was her choice. She knew where he was, where he'd always be, so she could return when she wanted to.
A noise coming from behind her distracted him for a brief moment, before he brought his attention back to her. Ears perked forward, he studied her. She was a timid one, that was for sure. She looked as if he would charge her any second, which amused him only somewhat. It also saddened him, because there were others out there that instilled that kind of fear in the mares. It sickened him. So putting everything together, her question didn't surprise him. Actually, it softened him even more. He felt for the mare, he felt for all mares that felt that way. "Something tells me that you don't have many run-ins with us, well, "nice" guys, do you?" He questioned, head tilted sideways slightly. And although he hadn't expected the sudden contact she made with her muzzle to his shoulder, he didn't move. He stayed still, allowing her to do as she pleased. Falcon was not one to lash, unless provoked.
A step was taken backward as she squealed, startling him ever so slightly, ears shot back for a brief moment before they perked forward again. A light laugh broke from his enclosed muzzle, he shook out his mane and took a step forward, regaining his spot. With hearing her words, he took another step toward her, yet this time he reached his muzzle out, brushing up against her withers. "No, not all, dear." He spoke softly, he nuzzled her before taking a step back. "And definitely not me." He softly smiled at her.
