V I D I A
The winter cold had come luring over the lands to chill the hearts of the young and the old. No one was untouched by it's grasp and many would die before the spring would cleanse these lands. The snow that hid the grass was still not thick, she could still see the grass stand up in it's places, frosted and white. This was the place where she had gone to seek refuge for the time being. It was cold to be alone, but even colder around the mountains, were she had been just a week ago. Soon, if it got colder even here, she wouldn't have any choice but to go to the desert or jungle, she needed to do everything she could, to stay alive. It was a basic rule for all animals. Eat. Breed. Survive. It was an emotion that all animals had, three basic rules, but few thought of them too much, and of course, most animals did much more than that also. Emotions played in all too often with animals, but when the nature craved it of them, the three basic rules kicked in. It had done so for her. She was freezing, she was hungry. She had been unlucky these past few months, a wound on her lower lip where a cougar had scratched her, had made her unable to eat much for a couple of weeks. She was a bit think, but healthy, but that little lost body fat made her shudder now, when the temperature started to plumit.
She needed a herd, or someone else, during this winter, to survive, if she didn't want to move to the desert or the jungle. It was a hard decision, a loner as she was, she was used to be alone, fending for her own life. She was a flirter, had always been, but no one had gotten her on their hook yet, but many loved her for her playful and even temperament, teasing and nuzzling others and trying to get them to smile with her soft voice with that odd accent.
Many had said that her heart were as golden as her gold champagne coat. Many thought of her as a palomino, but if you came closer, you saw the metallic sheen in the coat, and the pink skin around her nostrils and the pink and black spots around her hazel-green eyes. Herself, she didn't always agree with them.
She shuddered a bit before she kept going over the frozen meadows, it wasn't that cold, but her winter coat was still on it's way, getting thicker with each day.
