How could a mare like Kizzy ever be bored? It seemed as though despite her age, she was even more adventurous than ever. She had to be; there was no one to help her now.
She found herself following the flight of a magpie as it wove in and around the tree trunks close to the ground. They had long been her very favorite birds. It was not only their colors that reminded her of herself, but also their actions. They were risk-takers and troublemakers. The black-and-white birds went out of their way to make life just that much more interesting - just like the mare.
As she quickly followed close behind one, it wasn't long before the bird shot up into the treetops, out of her line of sight. The mare pulled back into a slight rear and let out a small whinny laced with frustration. She snorted as she circled the tree, rubbing against it every so often in an effort to coax the magpie back down to her level. "Lovely Miss!" she cooed up the tree. "Why do you fly so high out of my reach?"
The bird ruffled its feathers as it remained on a rather high branch. Kizzy began humming a nursery rhyme she used to sing to her son...

OUIAMU. Ahh, what the forest housed. From the smallest insect, to the largest of the deer family -- there certainly were many things that hid themselves within the trees. Oui found he enjoyed forests more than anything, and the mountains themselves certainly had many forests. But even they weren't what often kept the stallion's mind reeling upon. He was always thinking, even when he kept the thoughts hidden from himself. What to investigate now, who he'd meet today. He certainly enjoyed watching others -- their reactions to things, how they thought, their predictability. Sometimes it was more a bore than anything (well, most times really), but there were those few who sparked his interest, who made him curious and who entertained him. Sometimes, those horses were one in the same.
The stallion trotted lightly through the trees, his head high and his nostrils flared as he took in the many scents the world had to offer today. As per usual, the birds chattered with one another and many other animals held themselves to the shadows for their own secrecy. Mostly in vain, mind you, but they still held to the darkness in their attempt to keep safe. It was simply nature. Stay hidden, stay alive. Ouiamu smirked lightly as he looked up higher toward the sun that peered through the leaves, squinting to the brighter-than-bright light. Interesting how such a distant thing could heat the entire of the land they all knew of -- well, except for when winter rolled around. But then again, nothing was forever.
The somewhat-distant sound of another met his ears softly, catching his attention and slowing his pace. Cocking his head lightly, the dark horse pondered to himself briefly before altering his direction and following it. Who knows, perhaps it'll be an interesting day after all, After all, nothing could be more boring than boredom itself. He too clung to the shadows -- not because he required security, but because he felt the need to inspect before appearing to the source. Assess the surroundings, the situation -- all that jazz. A simple mare, older than most, was all that came to view. A couple of birds, sure, but it was the mare that spiked his interest if only so slightly. A light smirk played at the corners of his lips, and the pale-haired stallion slipped into the bushes and silently moved toward her.
It didn't take him long, even the birds hadn't noticed him. Soon he was wrapping around a trunk simply feet away from her, his eyes investigating further. She was nothing special, but still he figured he'd see how things went. Again, nothing could be more boring than boredom itself, and Ouiamu had a knack for not believing boredom even existed. There was always some way to look at things.
Smiling wickedly, the stallion pushed through the leaves and slunk near her, his head high and his eyes gleaming. "Well, why not try to fly yourself?"

The mare's attention was dedicated to the bird above. It was always maddening to lose a creature one was chasing to its natural shelter. Kizzy lost rabbits all of the time to their holes. As a younger horse, she'd learned better not to stick her muzzle into a rabbit hole and she had the scar to prove it. It had been a small laceration - nothing too serious or noticeable.
Birds were more elusive than rabbits. They could fly up and Kizzy might never see them again. Ground-dwellers were left to the mare's mercy. She could follow them forever. Well, unless they were smart enough to retreat to their underground chambers. She could honestly say that many of them were not.
Shaking her head in annoyance, Kizzy sighed loudly. It had been so long since she'd held the company of another horse that she was finding it perturbing that she had become so attached to a thing as simple as something to chase. She wanted its company more than anything else...
As if on queue, she heard the voice of another. Her gaze jerked back to the stallion who had made the suggestion quickly as her frame turned slowly toward him. Kizzy exhaled with a smirk at the sight of the boy. That was exactly what he was - a boy. There was no way he had been a stallion for long, though he did sport the signs of eventual handsomeness. One day he would blow all of the other stallions off of their feet and that day was fast-approaching. His carriage was mature, to say the least. He did not seem to share the lust-hungry traits of his male peers... No, this one seemed more collected - something a mare as old as Kizzy was could easily appreciate.
And yet, a smirk crossed his lips. It was an attitude Kizzy would relate to. She had been mischievous as a younger horse too - always willing to meet new horses and learn more about the world around her. Now that she knew what she knew, she was finding it difficult to live happily without her family of the past.Kizzy liked to think of herself as having moved on, but that didn't make life too much easier to live on one's own.
His suggestion rung in her mind. The black mare's head turned back and reached toward the black and white bird perched in its canopy. She closed her eyes, smile still apparent, and imagined the literal ability to simply take off to join the pie. To any other mare, it could be considered nonsense. Not to Kizzy. Not to a horse whose entire life had been based off of love and happiness. She counted herself lucky every day she arose from sleep.
Turning back, Kizzy's black tail brushed against her hocks as her eyes found their place on the stallion. "What a sight that would be! I would frighten his chicks to death!" The mare laughed. Her vivid imagination began to take charge as she visualized an old black mare with old, scruffy wings gamboling awkwardly into the air and small baby birds fainting from shock. The vision made her laughter crescendo, sending the magpie on his way.
"Besides, we wouldn't want him to know how lucky he is to have those wings. Nothing worse than a pompous bird, y'know!" Kizzy had always been a talker. Had she been many years younger, she probably would have been embarrassed by her words, but what did they matter now? She had to stay entertained - no use in feeling unsure of herself now.
"May I ask who you are, sir?"
OOC: DUDE. Long.

OUIAMU. It didn't take him long to evaluate her initially. However, as he approached and watched her continuously, the dark stallion could only contain a smirk and glinting eyes. Interesting, Circling around her, in the sense, the stallion came upon her right side and watched nothing as she looked from him to the bird, spoke her piece, and looked to him once more.
"Why yes, it's quite agreeable," The stallion's words seeped from his mouth like a velvet breeze that embraced the skin and absorbed everything without pain. Eyes ever so slit, a smirk as playful as ever, he concealed the nature within himself. Ouiamu chuckled lightly to himself, watching her all the while. "One of pompousness never achieves much, you see." Tilting his head from one side to the other, the dark stallion came closer to her (but still at a normal distance). His eyes ran along her body just briefly, so quick that it likely wasn't noticed. He wouldn't have cared if she was a perky little buckskin, or a dried up old hag.
The smirk toyed wider along his lips as the stallion's tail flipped over his back and he extended his front right fore in a gesture of manners from the days of olde. "The name's Ouiamu," In almost a theatrical sense, the stallion swooped down and slid to her left side, eyes never leaving hers with a smirk that never ceased. "And who's to say you can't learn to fly?"
He then appeared to mull over the thought, but the reality was nothing farther than that. He'd evaluated her, seen her reaction and thought process of initial questioning -- so far, she was nothing that couldn't be handled or controlled. Perhaps though, in her age, she knew a thing or two about the past. Would he be concerned enough about her to even question it? She seemed easily interested in him, which briefly made him ponder the possibilities of the meeting. Only briefly.

This stallion, aside from being the stud that he was, had a good head on his shoulders. Oh if she were younger...
The old mare giggled at his words. Kizzy knew herself to not be the great scholar that some were. To hear such a horse speak was an adventure already. He equated her suggestion to a philosophical definition, all the while she laughed at him. She couldn't imagine him making too many lasting friendships with such jargon. As he approached her, she did not stray as she might have in her younger years. What did she have to lose now? No sense in leaving such a unique stallion when she had only just met him. Kizzy was a kind mare, after all.
With a bow, he introduced himself. As she watched him kneel for a moment, she was surely taken aback, her ears falling back flat and her jaw opening for a moment with no sound escaping it. How long had it been since she'd met someone with such manners? This stallion was no threat to her, to be sure. As he took her left side, her eyes followed his, which never strayed. This was turning out to be a strange meeting, though not all together unpleasant.
"Ouiamu, you must not take me for someone who does well with figurative lingo," she said with a sweet smile and a laugh. Kizzy had never been one to take pleasure in having her brain vexed. She was never good at puzzles, and she knew it. The mare thought not of herself as unintelligent - not in the slightest. She simply preferred to have a full grasp on what she spoke of at all times.
"I'm Kizzy, by the way," she said with her own respectable lowering of the head.

OUIAMU. One never to pause in constant thoughts, the dark stallion took her words and actions and analyzed them in a moment's pace. He'd begun predicting, mapping, planning out -- everything in his nature, everything bottled up in his mind. She was a naive one, old as she may be. Casting a soft glance, the stallion presented an equally soft expression in his smile and demeanor.
"As I understand, dear Kizzy -- I'd never be one to dabble in the ways of twisting one's mind through trickery of words. Take from me your opinion and impressions, decide for yourself for I am not what I am." The stallion's eyes flashed only slightly, moving toward the tree and gazing up toward the branches casually.
Inhaling deeply, he cast a look back to the older mare and whisked his tail lightly along his back in a leisurely motion. Before she could have enough time to pick through his words, the stallion blinked softly and turned back around to her, rounding about her at a respectable distance. He showed no eager lust, no devilish desires of her.
"An earnest horse I am, dear Kizzy -- just as a gentle soul you present yourself to be, whether or not intentionally." There was a pause in his words, a look about him as his eyes met hers and his expression softened once more. With a soft sigh or allowing himself to ease his language, Ouiamu blinked softly and continued: "What brings you around this area, m'lady? Have you lived here since foal-hood, or a traveler of sorts would you place yourself?"
Oui tossed his head lightly, coming to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with her, remaining at such a distance as not to alarm her in any way. "Perhaps you fall in neither area, but have made a nook for yourself." And with his words the cream-haired stallion looked to the skies, a smirk curling at the corners of his lips ever so slightly -- nearly impossible to notice, but there all the same.
ooc; So stupidly sorry for making you wait so long for a reply from me. ><
