VITR. The day had been full of life, and it was well into Spring now. Animals were running around, both young and newborns, as well as mostly-happy older creatures, and of course: breeding-happy stallions. The young Lemonsilla made her way along the clear expansion of green grasses, near the lake. She had met a couple of the brutes recently, and all they had on their minds were to jump her the instant they got the chance. However, she had been lucky enough to escape them, but at the price of some innocent mares being taken into their ways before she herself was. It seemed like her luck would run short one day, but Vitr could only wish that such would not happen. Simply, she just was not ready for a foal yet, nor did she desire one. She also did not desire to have some brute attack her merely for the pleasure of doing so. Snorting heavily, the golden mare tore at some blades, filling her gut.
Stupid stallions, they seemed brain-dead during the time of Spring -- well, even moreso than any other day. All they seemed to care about was mounting as many females as they could before their lives ended. And the poor mares, they had to deal with the foals -- some wanted, most not -- only to have to deal with the same thing once more once the foal had reached the age of being able to take care of itself. No matter, she did not have to deal with that yet. The chittering of birds broke her from her internal rant on the opposite sex, and Vitr watched as two blue jays called to one another, jumping from branch to branch, chirping and carrying on, seeming to be having a conversation in a tongue the equine could not understand. Vitr lifted her head from grazing and watched them, swallowing the last of her grassy meal before giving a smile of relaxed happiness. Oh, to be a bluejay, and to have a mate who did not solely care about reproducing -- that was what the Lemonsilla realized she desired.

KENAI. the native. Honestly, it may have seemed creepy that Kenai was following this mare. Really, if you just listened to his claim, he wouldn't have seemed like a scary guy. He was simply minding his own business and wandering the free lands when he spotted her. However, the predicament she was in wasn't necessarily a good one; along the way, idiot stallions had been harassing her. No mare deserved to be treated like that. He simply followed after her because he wanted to make sure no one else harassed her. Sure, he didn't know her himself, but seeing as other brutes were pretty persistent around her, he figured he could help her out in some way.
Kenai still kept a good distance from the mare, but with what she was watching now, it felt like he should move closer. Perhaps introduce himself to reduce the tension. This just felt kind of weird for Kenai, but for some reason he couldn't pull away. Slowly, he made his way to where the mare resided, looking up moments after she did to see the blue jays in the trees. He kept his eye on the birds as he moved inward, stopping only when he was a few feet from the stranger. "Entertaining creatures, aren't they?" he found himself saying aloud, a bit unintentionally.
ooc: Again. I apologize for his creepiness...and the crappiness of this post. :'D

VITR. To stay she was caught off guard would be an understatement. The mare froze for a moment at the sound of his voice from behind her, before finally turning around to face the stallion who had spoken (it took her a few moments to collect herself so she could put on a strong face). Another stallion, drunk with thoughts of reproduction, Vitr sighed lightly, but when she met the face of the stranger her own face lightened some. Why, he didn't seem at all like the stallions she had met earlier -- he was softer looking, and, well... gentler. He didn't rush to mount her in a flurry of scents and sweat. He didn't even notice that she'd heard him, really -- she could tell by the reaction, more than anything else.
The golden mare smiled lightly before turning her head back over to the birds. "I do agree," She snorted lightly, closing her eyes for a moment as a gentle breeze played along her neck and in between her hair. The blue-eyed mare settled her sight back to the stranger of white and orange, her smile playing at her lips. A friend, perhaps? She couldn't explain it, and maybe it was just a stupid belief trying desperately to be said and thought, but the Lemonsilla didn't feel like this stranger was a threat. She really couldn't figure out why, but he just... gave her that vibe. Her tail whisked along her hocks before the mare dipped her head lightly in greeting. "They are rather fascinating." Vitr turned around again, walking toward the trees with a bit of a bounce to her steps as she merely lumbered on, her tail lifting some and playing with the breeze as it continued to come back stronger and stronger -- but it remained soft, all the same.
Tossing her head back over her shoulder to see him again, Vitr called with a light nicker. "So tell me, stranger: what brings you out here? I don't think you're like all the others I'd seen earlier today -- I do hope you don't prove me a fool." Her tender smile widened only slightly, her blue eyes glimmering with the shafts of light filtering in from the trees. Don't prove me a fool, stallion. But she couldn't deny that she was feeling... different around this one. Could it be that she was only putting a facade up on herself, telling herself that she desired nothing of what, internally, she seemingly now was? Strange to think that way, and it wasn't something Vitr wanted to believe; and yet, she called him closer still.
ooc; Bahah! I love Kenai. xD
