A small, painted mare entered the plains on a bright and sunny day, the tall grass tickling her belly with every step. Zamara held her head high with a smile pasted upon her maw. Today was a good day, she thought as bi-colored eyes gazed up at the huge expanse of blue that was the sky. The clouds were abundant, though scattered enough not to interrupt the sun's rays too much. The temperature itself was warm, though the cool breeze that continually blew over the land was enough to give it a chilled edge and signaled the encroaching winter season. If the winds of change weren't enough, the progressively changing colors of the leaves on distant trees and the dying grass that had already taken on a dry, yellow tint completed the atmosphere. Mara loved every bit of it. Though she'd been born in early spring, autumn was her favorite season by far. Only thing that was missing from the entire atmosphere, the only thing that would truly make it complete, was someone to talk to.
Her eyes, one blue and the other brown, shifted over the flat land that practically swallowed up her petite frame. From her stance of only a couple inches over nine hands tall, she could not see any others in her immediate range of sight over the sea of yellow and light green. Though, sensitive, red-hued ears pricked up at the far away sound of a whinny. Always in high spirits, but missing companionship, Zamara inhaled deep and released it in a call of her own that belied her size. While she may be a miniature version of a horse, her voice had never been such; conveying strong and clear tones to match any maturing mare's. With a pride that only belonged to her, Mar began dancing while she waited, lean legs carrying her stocky body in a graceful motion that would surprise even the most beautiful of the normal-sized equines she'd seen around these parts. For what, though, only time would tell.
