There was a raging storm the night Socrates was born, though you wouldn’t of known it if you’d been in the tiny chamber where the pitch black colt took his first breath. He was a skinny, leggy thing with vibrant blue eyes that pierced through the darkness. They clashed against his coat, though in a good, if even breathtaking way. The conformation and the way his joints were put together was a thing rarely seen, even in the seemingly beauty obsessed herd of Covell. He was a rare gift from the great goddess Ayla, his mother firmly believed and was sure to remind everyone of it. It was enough to strike jealousy into his only surviving sibling; Voltair. The other, older colt was not as physically impressive, or beloved. Though that first night of his life, Socrates never knew that jealousy, as well as his own flesh and blood would be his greatest undoing.
In the beginning, life was generally easy for the young colt. Being royalty and his mother’s favorite meant being pampered and loved by most of the herd. But nature dealt a tragic blow when the queen and mother to Socrates passed away due to a mysterious illness when the colt was merely one and a half years of age. It was a sad loss, and one that was difficult to overcome for the youngling. It was also difficult for his father and the king, Core. Core was a glorious leader whom ruled with an iron hoof, yet still displayed kindness to those in need and those he felt were loyal. Socrates greatly looked up to him, yet at the same time was disappointed that such a magnificent leader, and his own father, would not pay him much mind. He knew he loved him however, and also understood that ruling such a kingdom of Covell was a difficult task and so never complained. His father’s busy life lead to his older brother, Voltair, suddenly taking an odd interest in the yearling. The older male had never before paid much attention to him, and so the young and somewhat naive Socrates was overjoyed to finally be spending what he would assume would be quality time with his big brother. Voltair, on the other hand, had different ideas. The only reason he even bothered to pay any attention at all to the smaller black colt was to destroy him, mentally and emotionally.
Jealousy consumed the older one. Names were thrown at the youngling, insults that tore his heart and mind apart slowly yet surely until there was little left but a lack of trust for others and a growing, hidden hatred. A bitterness for those around him. But mostly a hatred directed towards Voltair. Yet, merely a few years later, his corrupter disappeared seemingly into thin air. Where once there was a dark, looming shadow over him, relentlessly spewing out negative words, now there was emptiness.
Life threw another oddity towards the growing stallion. On a day that seemed almost identical to the day of his birth, his father turned up dead. Battered, bloody, and bruised the leader was. It was a sight that Socrates would never forget. How could such a thing happen? And who could of possibly done such a thing to a mighty leader such as Core? If only he knew that he may never figure out the mystery that was his sire’s death. And with that death, the throne of Covell was thrust upon the young stallion’s shoulders. He believed he was not ready. Not emotionally fit enough to take on such a monumental task. But there was no other to take the job. With his brother, the rightful heir to the kingdom gone, Socrates had no other choice. Now he is left questioning if he’ll ever do his father justice. Can he ever be as great as the mighty Core? Or will, as he believes he will, fall into the shadows that are slowly consuming his mind.

- Likes to be the dominant horse in any situation. If someone tries to push him around or give him orders, he’ll snap at them. Anyone who pushes his buttons to far could find themselves locked in his jaws or find some hooves flying at them. That isn’t to say that he will kill them all, but a good beating never hurt anyone.
- Enjoys mentally and emotionally abusing those who have what he wants. The more he can make an enemy go into emotional turmoil, the better his chances for taking whatever it is he needs from them.
- Most of what he does is for himself and himself only. Call him a self absorbed bastard, he doesn’t care. Voltair believes he’s better than all others as it is.
- Feels that other horses are just there for his needs, especially mares.
- In his views, mares are only around for carrying on his legacy. Except for a VERY few that he feels are actually competent. Yet even then, he sees males and especially himself as superior than them.

a gentle brute at first glance. at least when it comes to mares. he is rather friendly to females and will put up with just about any antics one might put up just to keep their company. he avoids and dislikes most other stallions, seeing them as just asking for trouble, and trouble with other males is something he tries to avoid most of the time.
he is extremely loyal to those he grows attached to, though that loyalty can sometimes result in extreme possessiveness when he feels those he likes are in trouble or even when they simply try and leave him which, sadly, often happens. sometimes he can come off as a bit bossy, especially to mares that he tries to keep around him.

Perverted, egotistical, bold, brash and… soft. Yes, Donovan can be classified as all these things, depending on the day and the situation. It’s not uncommon for him to go gallivanting off into difficult situations, ones even he cant win. Take the scarring on him for example. It’s the product of him pissing off the wrong kind of animal; a boar. Yes, a boar. Why? He thought it would be funny to tease it, and never dreamed it would get the upper hand on him.
He’s used to getting what he wants due to his size, and often he does. Many are either to scared to say no to him, fearing he will unleash fury. Or, they simply just run the hell away when they see him coming which is probably for the best. He thinks himself almost godly. And although he does go throwing his weight around much of the time, he doesn’t go out of his way to insult others, either. He loves mares, tall, short, big or small. Black or white or anything in between they are all gorgeous to his greedy eyes. Though he does get upset when they deny him, he isn’t a rapist, either. That isn't to say he'll be happy, though. His temper can flare easily at nearly anything that doesn't go his way.
Despite his flaws, he can also be the biggest sweetheart you’d ever meet, and very nice to be around when he’s in an especially good mood. His antics can sometimes be rather amusing to behold, and if you catch him in a good mood, he can become more like a little lamb than a hungry lion. Fierce loyalty floods through his veins... at least for those that have wound their way into his heart, which can sometimes be difficult.
