ERZULI. dances with ghosts. She would shut her eyes, and everything would feel right. Erzuli loved those days when the wind blew softly, yet just enough to rustle the leaves in the trees and push her mane out of her face. When the wind would come gusting through, she would lift her head high, reaching for the skies, and take in all that air. When the wind died down, her neck would lower once again, and it would settle in a position that was parallel to the ground. There, her eyes would glaze over the land that lied before her; any beautiful land that happened to lie before her that day. She believed that every place expressed its' beauty in different ways, some more obvious than others. Even the threats that lurked on the lands were lovely, as long as they were respected. She may have appreciated all that the world gave her, but she wasn't an airhead; she knew there were forces out there that could kill her quickly if they wanted to. It was because of those forces that she praised the skies every day and celebrated what she had here on these lands.
Some would claim that Erzuli was crazy, and honestly, she accepted that as a reasonable explanation for her behavior. A bit of insanity, after all, defines who a horse is. The mare was taught many things from her father, and she still claims to be learning things even though he had recently passed away. Two of the most important things he taught her were to not let anyone try to change who she was and always believe in the things she couldn't necessarily see. Oh, there were certainly ways that the mare could find a way to see some of these things (a method which she hadn't exactly told her father about), but for the most part Erzuli put her faith into the things that didn't appear to exist. Even when others didn't exactly believe in what she did, she used her 'abilities' to help those who needed it by doing things in nature's favor. After all, nature was the ultimate force that controlled all parts of life, including death. Erzuli felt that it was her duty to show nature who was and was not worthy of life.
When the wind blew through her mane again, it confirmed that it was time. It seemed to say so in her eyes. Erzuli lifted her head skyward and began swaying it back and forth very slowly, humming a chanted tune to start. The winds seemed to respond by by blowing faster, so the mare gave a sly grin and began moving faster and humming louder. Soon, her whole body was moving in harmony with the wind. Her voice seemed to rise and fall, just as the sound of the wind did. She could hear hear the spirits, but what were they really telling her? Of course, the mare had to find out. She spun in circles and reached for the sun, now chanting loud enough for anyone nearby to hear her. She could have sworn that she heard her voice echoing, but then again she may have just been caught in the moment. That happens often, but she doesn't mind. It's almost as though her voice were being heard beyond the earth they live upon.
All of this was for something great, obviously. Erzuli knew that populations everywhere had been dwindling in numbers, and this was simply her chance to do something about it. She imagined these lands simply thriving with life, but the only way they could truly get there was through cooperation. She knew how stubborn others could get (especially around her), but deep down there was a part of them all that desired to be something much, much more. Great things could be accomplished if the stubbornness was set aside and everyone just cooperated for a little bit.
Erzuli paused in her movement for a brief moment. She grinned and looked around, wondering if anyone else was around to see the spectacular performance. With a loud whinny, the mare continued dancing and chanting, waiting for the moment when someone would arrive in her presence.

Monkey see, monkey do...
Winds rustled and ran along his back, ruffling his feathers but simply thrilling his mind. It was distant but he could hear it: an echo, a lighter voice, a chant of sorts... a song. Clacking his beak, the red-tinted creature took to the skies in a rather elegant manner, as though he himself were dancing to the tune. But a couple of minutes into it, and the source was caught. It started out lightly, but steadily the melody grew in his song; a tune to mimic her own, and the creature went so far as to be swept up in her motions as well, dipping and twirling and flapping his wings effortlessly. He could easily stay hidden in the trees of his home, but a nagging feeling kept the hornbill on her trail, and along her path. Clacking his beak lightly between songs, the Rhinoceros Hornbill finally took a perch atop a rather thick branch, cocking his head to the side and fanning his wings out in quick motions before they settled. Another couple of clacks, the raw, short sound echoing as beak hit beak in repetitive motions, the bird observed her more before ruffling his feathers in a quick shake. Blinking a few times, it took the bird only a few moments to decide to continue following the strange equine.
He took to the sky again, this time gliding from branch to branch -- a sort of game, one could say. Any outside eyes would have thought it odd for a bird such as himself to be trailing a horse, but then again said horse was equally odd in the eyes of others. One could even say the two would match up well, and perhaps the Hornbill secretly thought the same as he hopped from branch to branch. A mimicking game of two creatures deemed abnormal in the eyes of most.

-----TSAUM
Tsaum flicked his ears, listening. He could feel the leaves dancing on the wind, thriving on a current made from song and dance, not one made merely by wind. His muscles tensed, nostrils throwing fits of warm breath out as he tried to find the correct direction. He remembered his youth in the caves, how easily he could navigate within those familiar walls. Out here, everything was open. Noises came from everywhere, unconfined by walls and small spaces. It might have sounded like it would be easier to find everything out in the open, but it was harder. In the caves, Tsaum could hear which walls the echoes bounced off, could find his dam by listening for her call in the endless tunnels. There was nothing like that here. But he still enjoyed it, even if it wasn’t anything like his home. A scowl passed briefly over his face, and then left to leave his mask as blank and smooth as before. He would find his way home. It was just a matter of time.
With no visible alert to any particular direction, he stepped left, continuing along the grassy path. He could hear the wind thrumming now, whistling in tune to a deeper calling. His spine tingled, making tense muscles shiver along his lean body. He didn’t know why he was walking this way; he was being dragged along by his body. His mind was confused and curious at the same time. He stopped thinking; he would find out when he found out. That was the way it worked. He kept walking, bit by bit following the noiseless music.
The bird charged around his head at the same time he saw her. He swung around, about to huff and puff at the flying animal, and then noticed how odd it was behaving. Obviously it, too, was as drawn to the red flame as he. He snorted, not to gain attention, but at the antics of the dancing child. The appaloosa male smiled; an easy smile that might charm anyone with an easy heart. And he approached, careful to keep himself from swaying to her carefree movements. Tsaum watched her, knowing that she should have noticed his presence by now. But he just watched, and listened. He found himself charmed by the girl, but that could just be his male instincts urging him to move closer to her. He couldn’t hold tongue any longer; he had to speak to her.
“Hey, gorgeous.”

ERZULI & KTHULU. dances with ghosts. She practically ignored the bird when it had shown up. Erzuli was aware of how charming her tribal dances seemed, but she wouldn't let his presence distract her. Though, perhaps, maybe nature brought this bird here for a reason. She continued moving, occasionally glancing toward the colorful bird with a hypnotizing smile. She figured after a while that he wouldn't be leaving anytime soon. Though she was still twirling, she stopped chanting for a brief moment, for the bird's presence was quite intriguing to her now. She moved slightly closer to the tree where he was perched, and as she moved to the one beside it, he followed. She lifted her head upward and whispered to the strange creature. "You must be de answer," she told him. The bird let out a screech and continued following the mare. Again, a smile caressed her lips, but she continued dancing instead of stopping. Perhaps, she hoped, nature would give her much more than a bird. The idea excited Erzuli.
Though, what they had to offer to her next didn't exactly thrill the mare. She had heard him approach, but she kept going for the sake of establishing herself. However, she began to realize that it would look like that she was trying to put on a show for this stranger, and that was not the point she was trying to get across. Stopping now seemed like a good idea; after all, this was a bit of a private matter. Sure, dancing before a bird was okay, but another horse was a whole different matter. Besides, the way he simply intruded was not only rude, but it was also offensive to the mare. There was no doubt that she saw herself as beautiful, but the way the stallion said it really bothered the mare. So, practically the moment after she heard his voice, Erzuli stopped moving. She faced the stallion from her spot beside the tree. The bird, still perched above her, watched on with curiosity. He was a bit confused as to why the mare stopped, but interested in the situation none the less.
Erzuli smiled, but it was not friendly at all. She tilted her head sideways and let her mane fall from the side of her head. Her stare was somewhat menacing, yet she was actually trying to draw the stallion a bit closer. She was curious as to if he would even dare to approach her. She shook her head a bit and chuckled. "Words like dat weel not impress me, you know. Stallions who do not know how to greet me properly weel not receive my kindness, and I can tell you now dat it would be best to geet on my good side." Her smirk returned after she spoke, and she eyed the stallion eagerly, waiting to see if he even dared to come up with a decent response.
ooc: Honestly, I kind of wish she had more to say, because angry Erzuli is really fun. xDD I love writing with this gal already~ Also, a translation, if anyone gets confused; weel - well; geet - get; dat - that; de- the

Her smile would have unnerved him, if he were a stallion who could be unnerved by a mare. But he wasn’t; he was, if anything, intrigued that she felt the need to try. He kept his own simple smile in place. About to speak again, but beaten to it by her. Ears flicked as her words left the tantalising lips. The accent that tangled her words was unusual, but not indecipherable. He stepped forward once, keeping his weight balanced. “Apologies then, darlin’. Not on account of me trying to be rude; just the way I was raised y’see?” He lowered his head. He was King of these lands, yes, but being an airhead was not one of his traits. He’d treat anyone with respect if he thought it’d help him in the end. His brown gaze swiftly climbed over her body. She was a looker, but she obviously found his appraisals of her unwelcome. He’d have to be less of himself around this one.
“What’s found yerself out on my lands here then, hrn?” He twisted his legs around so that his body faced slightly at an angle to hers. One hoof stretched out, and another followed suit. His walk didn’t go very far though, only a metre or two away. Testing to see if she would accept his initial apology and testing, also, to see if she would accept his silent offer for a walk and talk. “Would you mind, and beggin’ yer pardon for not having asked this foremost, but I’d sure love to know yer name there, honey.” The pet names were an honest habit; if she found even that too offensive, he’d tag her and bag her. No need for some uptight prune wasting space on his land. The thoughts didn’t show on his face; he was too busy trying to make the walk and talk deal look as tantalising as possible.

ERZULI & KTHULU. dances with ghosts. Erzuli kept a sharp eye on the stallion for a moment, deciding overall if he even deserved to be able to talk to her. She gave a low snort as she digested his words; raised that way, huh? Well, it was obvious that if the boy had been raised with any manners at all, he would have been a bit more polite and not approach the mare in that way. If he went around calling everyone "honey" and "gorgeous" all the time, he'd surely get kicked by a mare who took it the wrong way. Luckily for him, Erzuli was standing a good enough distance away that she couldn't kick him if she tried. Another thing that irked her was that the stallion called these lands his. Erzuli was raised to believe that the lands owned themselves; horses were simply permitted to live off of the land. No one could lay claim to them, or else a curse would be put upon them. Knowing this, the mare took a hesitant step away from the stallion. Sensing the mare's hesitance, the bird in the trees flew just a bit closer, feeling the urge to protect the mare at all costs.
Now, she watched the stallion as if he were a ticking time bomb. "No one can personally own dese lands..." she whispered under her breath. A bit louder now, she called out, "Great Mother owns dese lands, and you have no right to claim them!" It felt as though she would be cursed as well, so Erzuli wanted to get out of there as soon as she could. The bird from earlier, still watching from the trees, suddenly swooped down in front of Erzuli, landing on the ground just by her hooves. He spread his wings in an intimidating manner and cawed at the stallion angrily. Erzuli's fear died down a bit, for she had one of the Great Mother's creatures to help her, but the stallion's presence still irked her. "I believe I deserve to know your name first," she added.
