Tsaum. He chuckled to himself; how exceptionally perfect his name was! It was both masculine and memorable, without being dramatic or flimsy. It suited him to the t. Dark ears twiddled about on top of his lightly-boned poll. Listening to the words of the land; the Mavrovo Dip was his favoured haunting. His legs, strong and lithe in their build, combed through the budding grasses of spring. Hooves that pushed into the earth drove the hotblood body forward in a rhythmical dance. Water splashed onto the black, bay and white coloured legs, gently discolouring them; making them darker. The morning song of jaybirds helped to lift his spirits higher, and he laughed openly, carefree in his reign.
Tsaum was the Plains King. Many should know that; he was a sight to behold. Egotistical, sure. Ambitious, definitely. And he never missed the opportunity to please his lady friends. Being a King was possibly not his best idea; but he could hold his own in a fight. If he was challenged, so what? He would fight, and he would win or lose. It was all part of the plan, every step he made. Even the ones he hadn’t taken yet; it was already what he wanted to do. He faltered, slowing down to a calmer walk now. Thoughts circulating in his mind; yes, he was a King. But where were his subjects, his playtoys, his Queen and Vicereine? A sigh. The clammy breath of wind still visible in the early morning air. This was the time to act. Now, before all the other guys got their act together and stole the girls’ hearts before he had a chance. Stopping now, looking down and at his own face, a waving reflection in the disturbed waters surrounding his hooves. His next step looked back at him, a blaring mirage where his face was just a moment before. “I want a queen.”

The late summer warmed her cream and white skin and made her think of so many things. Maybe she was a bit dreamy at the moment, but she was happy, and she let herself be. She had wandered the lands for a year now, since she had been able to leave her mothers side. Shaking her head, she slowed down to a peaceful walk, but the muscles still moved smoothly under her cream and ivory skin, and made the coat shine. The stripes on her skin, white to the color, clearly told everyone that saw her, along with her upstanding, two colored mane, that she was a zebroid. A ferile zebroid, since she could be in heat, as she had noticed. Had she been infertile, she would never reach that state. However, she wasn't in heat now, but she was close to it. What an irritating thing it was, stallions used to cluster at those days, and she wasn't in the mood for that. She got a shape in sight, and when she realized that it was a stallion, some dozens meters away, she tipped her ears towards him, her elegant, sleek body coming to a stop. Her long white tail curled a little on the ground, long and silky, as her forelock, that reached more than halfway down to the heartshaped snip on her muzzle, covering the star. She was a pretty mare, with all the right shapes, even though she was petite.

He heard the approach of another, though for a few moments after he heard the noise of hooves stopping, he continued to look down at his reflection. Yes, a queen. Of course, she wouldn’t necessarily stay queen for long. But until he found himself in a position to be picky, any girl could win the place at this point. Finally he stepped back and, in one fluid motion, turned and resumed his natural pose. Of course he had not expected the sight that he found. A zebroid, creamy in her complexion and a beaut if ever he had known one. The instant he saw her, he wanted her. Typical Tsaum thinking. He stepped further from the water, closer to her. His long legs placed in front of each other in a leisurely walk. The closer he got to her, the more he smiled. Boy, this chick sure would make any King proud! He stopped before he broke into her personal space, ears straining for her voice and eyes further roaming her pattern. “Ain’t never seen such a colour, honey. No no, never.” He shook his head gently, letting his smile filter down. “Not sayin’ nothing for want of sounding disrespectful, miss. But darn honey. You sure are fine on the eyes here.” A slight cock of his head to let his forelock swing over one eye. He hoped he didn’t sound too obnoxious; he was a charmer, but nothing subtle ever seemed to leave his mouth.

She had never imagined to actually find a stallion, or mare for that part, that didn't comment on her unusual coat, so it wasn't a surprise that he did, but he did it in a charming way at least, with an accent she didn't know. He sort of rolled on the words, making them softer than they would usually be, and his choice of words and putting them together was a bit odd. But she liked it, it made him a bit unusual as well. Hos spotted coat made her wonder for a bit, for herself, how many spotted horses she had seen, and it wasn't many. Her own coat.. Well, she had never seen that and didn't expect to either, if she didn't get foals on her own, wich she hoped would be in a near future. "Yeah, I've heard that alot lately.. Some call me a freak also, so it isn't all good." Her voice was soft and clear as silver bells, with a tint of playfulness in them. She wasn't the quiet, shy type of mare. She knew what she wanted here in life, and she would do whatever that was necessary to get to it. But it didn't mean that she couldn't be a little playful on the way.
Sweeping her long tail over her hocks, she eyed him for a bit, but then turned away her head in respect, she didn't stare at people, at least not when she didn't know the one she was talking with. And at this moment, she didn't know that she was talking to a king either, but she exercised perfect respect and curiosity to him, as she would do for almost anyone today, she was in that mood. But behind that respectful mood she was in, there was playfulness, curiosity, charm and fire.
